"And in those simple beautiful movements I remembered what was really important in training; that consistency trumps intensity; all the time. That intensity is born from consistency. That one cannot force it, one has to lay in wait for it, patiently, instinctively, calmly and be ready to grab it when Grace lays it down in front of you."

What a freaking great day! This is without a doubt the best group of heavy reps I have ever done! Every set was just about perfect. Plus I ...

Its amazing what disapears first on me when I have to miss training. My glutes and hips go first; amazingly quickly too, and then the quads....

Kinda reminds me of the "sprint till you die" end of football practice, but cooler! :)
I remember that day, I remember thinking at the time doing the seesaw presses I would do anything to just make it all go away.... now I am sad it is in the past, I want to relive it all again.... I guess I will never make a good Buddhist.
nonsense fawn, a good buddhist accepts the circle of karma with no attachment eh?lol.
That was awesome. I think I went out and and came back 5 different times. I should've picked a heavier weight.
When I get back to the cert, whether it be as student or assistant, I will be doing that workout along side the grads, with my 24kg bells.
I'm excited already.
How is it decided whether to use 16kg or 24kg KB. I use 24kg, 32kg on daily basis, but nothing lighter. I weigh around 187 lbs.
Taikai, We were told by Kenneth Jay what to take, women - 12kg, Men - I cant remember. We were told if we couldn't press the weight at least 7 times consecutively, to get a lighter weight. We had no clue what we were about to do.
very exciting! What was the prescription....swings, and then see-saw presses. Was it 20 seconds swings, then see-saw press for 20 secs?
I am trying to get clearance to make the Oct. RKC to assist. I am hoping to get the time off.
How does one assist in the RKC? I think it'd be fun....
Fawn, Younger men were told to use the 24, for Masters, the 16 was OKed. Being in the middle age, (45) I chose the middle path and used a pair of 20s. (hard enough let me tell you!)
Pete, we did 2-arm swings for about 30 sec, then walked forward one step per press in see saw fashion for about the same. I quickly lost track of time and just focused on staying conscious and moving forward. I nearly puked at the end but Fawn was right, no one was gonna stop. At the finish the coolest part was the RKCs already done were standing facing us working right along with us until we ALL crossed the finish line. It was AWESOME and truly inspirational.
What you couldn't tell from the clip was that some of the guys working at the end there were teammates surrounding there comrades swinging and pressing along with them until we were all done...It was an unforgettable moment, buddhist or not!!
Takei,
you should err on the light side as it is on the ass end of a VERY long and grueling weekend. Probably 20 kg unless you can do multiple sets of 7-10 wiht the 24kg, or you just want to really kick your own ass.your choice :))
either way it will be tough.
Doesn't leave me much of a choice then. Thought for 20 minutes, and can't find one good reason why I shouldn't stick with 24kg.
I went into the weekend workout, doing PR zones of see-saw presses, and doing probably anywhere from 140 - 150 reps in a 15 minute period with two 24kg bells.
That said, my body was fried by the end of the weekend and 24kg bells would've probably ripped me apart. Case in point, on day two, I had to use the bathroom for about 3 hours and I just decided to hold it rather than "bond" with my kb and drag it all the way to the restroom.
I used two 16kg, probably should've used 20kg, but couldn't find them, and I certainly didn't want to be the guy to hold up the show when KJ was screaming at the start. 24kg would've been out of the question. I hopefully made up for that by continuing until the very last guy was in. (I'm the dude in all gray on the far left side swinging at the start of the video)
