"And in those simple beautiful movements I remembered what was really important in training; that consistency trumps intensity; all the time. That intensity is born from consistency. That one cannot force it, one has to lay in wait for it, patiently, instinctively, calmly and be ready to grab it when Grace lays it down in front of you."

Wooo! Now that looks like fun!
yeah christine it was always fun. we used to train for 4-5 hours a day 5-6 days a week and I never once thought of it as work.you could fly; it rocked.
Holy cow.
If I just master half of what you have done I will be happy.
Extremely motivating to read.
Gymnastics and parkour are the 2 things that just amaze me to watch. It looks amazing, I can't even imagine what it feels like to do!
jacob,
thanks for the kind words.its been a very interesting journey.
So beautiful!
My 13-year-old is a level 8 gymnast, practicing 20 hours a week. He LOVES it, or there's no way he could do it. We pray that his body will stay healthy and that if/when it's time for him to be done with it, he'll be able to make peace with his decision.
I was the mom who believed kids should be kids with lots of free time. How did this happen?!?! :)
Rif, I took a intro to gymnastics class in college, and I am truly impressed with gymnasts. You can bench all you want, but to hold an Iron cross is strength on a whole other level! Nice pic!
leslie,
as much as I love(d) gymnastics and coached as well as competed, that true competition gymnastics is perhaps the most dangerous sport your kid can do.there is NO such thing as an elite gymnast without multiple joint injuries and as you can tell from my blog, these injuries last a lifetime.
gymnastics training(basic) is great for kids but early specialization, lack of antagonistic muscle balancing and the constant pounding always takes a toll, especially on these young bodies.
as I said, gymnastics is addicting but that doesnt mean its good for the gymnast.
please be careful with your son.
Amazing photo Rif!
I hear they are casting for a new marvel comic movie......

lol Franz, thanks man but that was a LONG time ago.
