Team World Gym at the 1991 Ironman Powerlifting Meet. What a great crew.My first real power meet and I squatted 534, benched 341 and pulled 440. The start of a great run.
"And in those simple beautiful movements I remembered what was really important in training; that consistency trumps intensity; all the time. That intensity is born from consistency. That one cannot force it, one has to lay in wait for it, patiently, instinctively, calmly and be ready to grab it when Grace lays it down in front of you."

Who is the bigman in the photo??
thats Jeff stanley who I coached to USPF natioanls. Jeff squated 863, bench 512 or so and pulled in the mid sixes. the guy was freaky strong in the legs and could lunge with 500 lbs and do NO HANDED squats with 600. It was something you had to see to beleive.I've only seen one other time and it is so freaky!
jeff should have been one of the first 1000 lb drug free squatters but he had health issues and had to quit.
the smaller guy in the front is Zergio Zenobi who was a national level 165 and was always in the hunt. at that meet he squatted 633 bench 363 and pulled 540.
zergio is to my immediate left.
