New Snatch technique

this is per Jason Browns request to see some video of my new snatch technique of pushing the hips back before I lower the bell. Its not as apparent from the video (especially as its sideways and I cant seem to get it vertical) but its the best I got today. If I cant get it rotated I will reshoot it next week.

Mark - I can clearly see the hips moving back. Most people initiate the descent of the KB snatch by pusing the knees forward (too much quads this way). I have inuitively been trying to push my hips back similar to what you are doing.

Might you be naturaly avoiding the him movement due to your old back and postural issues (flat back)?

to be honest it feels like they move earlier than it looks but I will work more on keeping the glutes locked in and reaching back more in the overhead position.major difference from my old technique.
I have NEVER gotten my hips into anything, given way to much gymnastics and then bodybuildling before powerlifting.Gymnastics and bb way quad dominant.

this is the closest I have gotten to using my hips correctly.lots of progress to come.

sounds great. your technique looks efficient and powerful. If you asked me whether or not your glutes were strong, from the video I would have to say yes. You are "snapping" the hips just fine!

Keep up the good work!

thanks franz. want to move regular snatch volume between 150 and 200. I was surprised myself at how fast the hip snap was. still need lot sof work at top to really solidify the lockout position.

Thursday ruck

Another decently strong one. Cool weather again and that helps.. Calves were tight, the only thing slowing me down 45 lb ruck 6 laps 3 mile...
