"And in those simple beautiful movements I remembered what was really important in training; that consistency trumps intensity; all the time. That intensity is born from consistency. That one cannot force it, one has to lay in wait for it, patiently, instinctively, calmly and be ready to grab it when Grace lays it down in front of you."

Saw taht on youtube under "dirty boxing" or something.
Wouldn't want to run into that guy in a dark alley!!!!!
holy cow, what asmall world! that's the i liq chuan wu guan in moscow!
Yikes! Reminds me of the new Rocky Movie where Rocky is punching with giant dumbbells in his hand. Not sure I agree with the sport specific concept of trying to duplicate sporting motions with weights.
Either way,that guy is strong!
Fedor does kipping pullups therefore Crossfit must be right;-)
franz,
funny, I didnt see it that way as trying to emulate the exact movement but something that would build continuous strength in the range of motion of that movement.obviously it would be amuch slowly movement than the boxing correlate but still looks like it has lots of value to me.
especially for mma guys who need so much rotations strength with the demands of boxing grappling and throwing.
ashe,
what is the i liq chuan wu gaun? a dojo?
tom, crossfits not right ;}}?
mark,
yeah, i liq chuan is a style (the one i train in actually ;-) ) and wu guan is the chinese term for dojo (basically)
BTW, i don't think it would translate very well vis-a-vis striking but i do see a lot of potential carry over to throwing.

ashe, I agree. can't see where it would hurt but I'm not a striker so I can't be sure.looks good for serious rotation all around strength and I bet there is a carryover.
I just thought it was funny that his grunts were in russian.
