Another excellent blog post by Chris Highcocks looks at metabolic changes during exercise comparing interval training versus continuous endurance training.
"And in those simple beautiful movements I remembered what was really important in training; that consistency trumps intensity; all the time. That intensity is born from consistency. That one cannot force it, one has to lay in wait for it, patiently, instinctively, calmly and be ready to grab it when Grace lays it down in front of you."

I grew up on skates, this picture makes me miss it so much....Aahhah
yeah they grow some wheels dont they?how long did you skate?
I started skating when I was two or 3 with my grandfather who took me to the local pond and pulled me around with his scarf.
I still skate a little. In my mid 20's I skated the most up untill I became a home owner and just ran out of time.
Most of my skating was speed skating both ice and roller. Later street skating. I've played a load of hockey both ice and roller. I had to stop because I kept hitting my head!
I met, trained with Eric Heiden back in the early eighties when he turned pro as a cyclist. what a great guy and what an education. I saw him win his 6 golds the olympics and the guy became a hero and an inspiration to me immediately.getting to ride and lift with him was such an honor. I've always wanted those huge legs and man he had them.
He shared with me a lot of his training for skating info and I couldnt beleive how hard they trained! amazing.
