All Hail King Coan.

I was there when he did his 2400 at 220. I saw him in Vegas when he squatted his 1000 lbs and I was supposed to be in Vegas for his final meet to witness with the Big Chief but it was not to be. All Hail King Coan, the Best Powerlifter of all Time! His records may be beat but his performances and career will not be eclipsed.

Rif, Do you remember a powerlifter form NZ called Derek Pomana, I think he came 2nd at the worlds to Coan, one year, may even have beaten him as Coan may have got disqualified (bit hazy on details). I remember seeing him at a bar (of all places)squatting 385kg - man that's a lot of weight so can't imagine what a 1000lb squat looks like. Do you know if he still lifts I don't keep track of powerlifting the same these days.

Thanks for posting that. I remember once cutting out a photo of Coan squating and stickign it on the wall in the squat rack to motivate me to go deep.

mike I do remember derek pomona but havent heard anything about him in years. I too am out of the power scene other than what I read in plusa.

190 x 1 x 12, 210/225 static holds, 24 kg goblet squats, floor pushups 30, 20

This went VERY well almost all reps identical. Realized I get better drive AND minimize shoulder stress if I unrack it with more weight on ...
