San Jose RKC Day One; The dreaded Snatch test

Day one of the first RKC Cert in California is over and what a day! the facilities at San Jose State University are incredible and Team Leader Chris Holder did us proud arranging things for us to have everything we need for a great teaching environment.

Here are some photos Tracy took as Team Rif went through their snatch test paces.Everyone is always so nervous til they get this out of the way, not realizing that this is just the very begining of the "fun".
It was perfect weather, warm clear and sunny,a great example of California winter.
On a sad note, Joe Sarti missed Taming the Beast by one inch again in the pullup. He crushed the pistol and the press but just couldnt manage the last part of the pull. The added mass he has put on with his squat program might have made things a bit harder. But he was gamer and put on a good show.We had numerous Beast Tamers this year including one guy who looked like he could do five reps on each event no problem He is one of Chris Holders coaches and this guy is a MONSTER! More on him later, gotta go teach the clean!

The doctor's the one who's thrilled to finally be part of Team Rif. It's been like 5 RKCs or something that I've been to, and this is the FIRST one that I've had the chance to be in Team Rif.

Take nothing away from any of the other team leaders, but there is a DAMN good reason why Rif is a Senior RKC, folks!

The new KBLA shirts are being well represented here at the RKC. And we've had several people ask for them too. Hopefully Rif will be sporting his sometime on this blog :)

geoff wait to you see this guy Brett.Insane.The Beast looks like a toy in his hand. The pistol took about a second start to finish as did the press. He looke like he could do with it without breaking a set.
Plus his freakin arm looks like colemans.

Seriously. I've NEVER seen anyone take the Beast and treat it like it was a 53.

That dude Brett was AMAZING! He's probably the new #1 on my list of guys I never want to be on the wrong end of.

yeah Doc, build like a huge bodybuilder, strong like a pro strongman and fast and explosive like the ball player he is. nasty combo eh?

I gotta brag a little about the girl in the bottom pic. Grace Chiplinsky represented the KBLA crew properly when she did her snatch test (16kg) on 1 hand!

She told me afterwards that she had so much adrenaline left over that she felt like she was going to switch hands and do the same thing on the other hand.

Gotta love how the RKC does that to you! :-)

Doc,

forgot that! she did kick ass. the whole weekend as well. you taught her well:))
and yes I too had problems falling asleep due to the adrenalin and I didnt even train!

190 x 1 x 12,210 static hold, 225 static hold, bodyweight squats 3 x 15

What a freaking great day! This is without a doubt the best group of heavy reps I have ever done! Every set was just about perfect. Plus I ...
